A Wedding Coordinator is focused on the management of the wedding logistics.
The difference between a venue coordinator and wedding coordinator is who they work for. The venue coordinator works for the venue and is responsible for directing venue employees and the logistics involved in operating the venue. The venue coordinator usually does not create the day-of timeline or coordinate with any other outside vendors. If the venue comes with a coordinator, they are a valuable resource for the couple and often the point of contact in securing the venue.
The Wedding coordinator works for the couple, not for a specific venue or vendor.
With a coordinator, the couple is in charge of planning the wedding and the coordinator makes sure the plans are executed.
The coordination package includes:
- Planning meetings with the couple (either in person, virtually, or through text / email)
- Creating a customized rehearsal and day-of timeline
- Coordinating and communicating with the couple, wedding party, and vendors on the wedding day
- Directing the rehearsal
- Directing and coordinating set-up and tear-down
- Managing the timeline on the wedding day
- Gratuity and final payment distribution to vendors on wedding day
- Handling any unexpected issues
- Generally ensuring the day runs smoothly.
- Final communication with vendors starting 45 days out
- Assisting with RSVPs and seating chart arrangement
- Walkthrough venue and help create floorplan
